If you’re looking for the best plate of hummus around – Abu Hassan (\u05d0\u05d1\u05d5 \u05d7\u05e1\u05df) on 1 HaDolphin St. in Jaffa is the place for you. There are many contenders out there, though, just ask any Israeli to point you to their favourite hummus place.<\/div>\n

HaKosem<\/a> (\u05d4\u05e7\u05d5\u05e1\u05dd) on King George St. offers great falafel, and so does Mifgash Ha’Osher (\u05de\u05e4\u05d2\u05e9 \u05d4\u05d0\u05d5\u05e9\u05e8) just up the street near Masarik Square (\u05db\u05d9\u05db\u05e8 \u05de\u05e1\u05e8\u05d9\u05e7).<\/div>\n

Sabich is based on a similar concept, only with fried aubergines instead of falafel, and is quite popular in Tel Aviv. The best place for that is on 2 Tchernichovsky St. (\u05d8\u05e9\u05e8\u05e0\u05d9\u05d7\u05d5\u05d1\u05e1\u05e7\u05d9), right off Allenby St.<\/div>\n

Finally, Port Sa’id<\/a> (\u05e4\u05d5\u05e8\u05d8 \u05e1\u05e2\u05d9\u05d3), just behind the Great Synagogue (\u05d1\u05d9\u05ea \u05d4\u05db\u05e0\u05e1\u05ea \u05d4\u05d2\u05d3\u05d5\u05dc) on Allenby St. has a more hip take of Israeli food, usually served with a glass of beer or Arak, to go with the food.<\/div>\n
