If you’re looking for the best plate of hummus around – Abu Hassan (אבו חסן) on 1 HaDolphin St. in Jaffa is the place for you. There are many contenders out there, though, just ask any Israeli to point you to their favourite hummus place.
HaKosem (הקוסם) on King George St. offers great falafel, and so does Mifgash Ha’Osher (מפגש האושר) just up the street near Masarik Square (כיכר מסריק).
Sabich is based on a similar concept, only with fried aubergines instead of falafel, and is quite popular in Tel Aviv. The best place for that is on 2 Tchernichovsky St. (טשרניחובסקי), right off Allenby St.
Finally, Port Sa’id (פורט סעיד), just behind the Great Synagogue (בית הכנסת הגדול) on Allenby St. has a more hip take of Israeli food, usually served with a glass of beer or Arak, to go with the food.
>> As much as we all love hummus, Tel Aviv has a lot more than that to offer in terms of food and drinks – that’s what we are here for. >> Feel free to ask us more specific questions via the Ask a Local app.
