Neve Tzedek (נווה צדק, literally “Spring of Justice”) is a relatively small neighbourhood in the southern part of Tel Aviv, linking the area of Rothschild Boulevard with Jaffa and the beach. Being the first quarter built outside of the city of Jaffa, as a precursor to future Tel Aviv in 1887, and the changes it had undergone with time give it its uniqueness.

Most building are unbelievably beautiful private houses, with some places that served as the first institutions of young Tel Aviv. Among these, you can find the location of the first Hebrew schools in the city, which by now have been replaced by the Suzanne Dellal Centre for Dance and Theatre.

A walk through romantic Neve Tzedek is always a great idea – at sunset with with your spouse or partner, or on a Friday afternoon with the kids. You can find great restaurants and shops walking down the main street, Shabazi St. (שבזי), including what is undoubtedly the best ice cream place in Tel Aviv – Anita. Walk all the way down Shabazi St. and you get to HaTachana – where once stood the train station to Jerusalem – a great venue with different shops, cafés, and culture and entertainment activities.

>> Tel Aviv is known for its vibrant night life – but in no way does it end there. With dozens of art galleries, concerts, theatre, dance and opera shows, and countless other activities, you can be sure to find just what you are looking for. >> Feel free to ask us more specific questions via the Ask a Local app.
